GETTING AROUND ALGHERO

Alghero (Alguer in Cathalan) is an old Cathalan town, faced to the Mediterranea sea, on the west coast in the north Sardinia.

It has been dominated from the Aragoneses for more than four centuries.

That is a consequence of the Cathalan language that is still spoken from the population.

Has a lively atmosphere, with a good selection of shops, cafe bars, restaurants,
famous is the “Catalan crawfish” and a variety of fresh fish and seaside fruits.


 

 

There is a 5km long white sandy beach stretching from the port and marina to Fertilia.
It is an ideal all year round holiday destination either to relax and dine out in the town,
enjoying the local gastronomic delights, lovely coves and beaches wide range of hotels and apartments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PLACES TO SEE  
Palazzo d′Albis - Piazza Civica This palace became famous to have accommodated in the 1541 emperor Carl V who second the popular legend, defined the city "Bonita, por my fe, y bien assentada".
The Roman Bridge The Roman Bridge can be found between Alghero & Fertillia. It actually dates back to medieval times.
 
Grotta di Nettuno (Neptunes Caves) - Capo Caccia Neptunes Grotto is a remarkable series of caves just outside Alghero,
Necropoli Anghelu Ruju One of the most important archeological sites of Sardinia. It has one of the most vast and ancient complex of artificial caves.
Sella & Mosca Wineyards The 500 hectares of vines, produce every year some of the finest Sardinian wines. Cellars and the museum are open to the public. The museum exhibits the company old photographs, showing the whole history since 1899
Nuraghe Palmavera The whole complex is surrounded by a barbican with 4 towers, around which there was the ancient village.
 
Bosa Bosa is situated about two-thirds of the way up the west coast of Sardinia, on a small hill, about 3 kilometers inland on the north bank of the Temo River

Castelsardo
Castelsardo is a  small village located in the northwest of the island within the Province of Sassari.
It is a historical place with a old castle that traces the origin of the 1100, the town of Castelsardo (that means "sardinian castle") rose around it.
 
Stintino Lovely seaside village, 25Km from Alghero."Pelosa" beach, located in Stintino, is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia.  Its water is so delightful; it is difficult to find another place like it in Italy.
