If you’re looking for a beach to spend the whole day with crystal-clear sea, pine forest and services, Mugoni Beach is one of the best choices near Alghero.
Located inside Porto Conte Bay, about 16 km from the city center, it is a long stretch of light sand immersed in the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park and in the Capo Caccia – Isola Piana Marine Protected Area. What is the beach like?
Mugoni is one of the largest beaches in the Alghero area. The sand is fine and light, while the sea has shades ranging from turquoise to deep blue.
Behind the beach stretches a large pine forest that offers natural shade throughout the day, a rather rare feature along the coast and highly appreciated in the summer months.
The seabed slopes gently, making the beach particularly suitable for children and those who prefer to swim in shallow waters.

One of Mugoni’s main strengths is its position inside Porto Conte Bay.
Thanks to the natural conformation of the coast, the beach is often sheltered from the mistral and other prevailing winds. When the sea is rough on many beaches of the west coast, at Mugoni it is common to find much calmer conditions.

How to get there
By car
From the center of Alghero, take the SP55 towards Porto Conte and Capo Caccia. The journey takes about 20 minutes.

It is a practical solution for those staying in the city and preferring not to use the car.
ARST Bus
Mugoni can also be reached with ARST local buses, which operate connections between Alghero and Porto Conte. Line 9320 – timetable line 9320 and Line 5 – timetable line 5
Parking
The beach has a large and convenient parking lot immersed in the pine forest.
During the summer season the main parking is paid, with hourly rates (€1 per hour) and a daily flat rate of around €8 for cars (the amount may vary depending on the season and regulations, always check on official sites).
When to go
The best months are May, June, September and early October, when the weather is pleasant and the beach is less crowded. July and August are the peak period.
